Founded March 8, 1881 by 17 charter members, First Congregational Church of LaGrange is people--more than 600 people living in LaGrange, Illinois and nearby communities. The purpose of the church is to be the "body of Christ" and to promote the love of God and people through caring, sharing, service, and worship.
We are a United Church of Christ, yet you will find many denominational traditions represented here. We value the privilege and responsibility given to each member to work out a faith that is meaningful to him or her.
We are an Open and Affirming congregation, welcoming persons of diverse racial and ethnic heritage, socioeconomic circumstance, gender, age, physical and mental ability, marital status, faith perspective, and sexual orientation to join our congregation and to participate fully in its life and ministry.
As you surf our site, you'll find that we offer a rich variety of programs and worship experiences. Our church is the home for our 600 members, and the home for many in our community as well.
We host a Saturday Lunch program, music programs, middle school and high school age youth programs, Sunday School, Adult Education, Yoga, Bunco, Knitting Group, Book Circle not to mention a host of community service organizations like the Overeaters Anonymous, Alchoholics Anonymous, Alanon and many other programs.
