Stewardship 2023

A letter from Rev. Carly Stucklen Sather

Our world is divided on too many issues to name.  There are powers that thrive on keeping us divided, pitting one person, one group, against another. Fear and suspicion are used as tools to nurture hatred, prejudice, and detachment.

Yet,  we seek to be different. We are part of a progressive, love-driven, community of faith.  We are about loving God and neighbor.  We are about building bigger tables.  We are about giving everyone a voice.  We are about uniting across our divisions to join with the Spirit in working toward justice, social equity, equal power, and extravagant grace for all.

"‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’" This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”       (Matthew 22:37-40)

Bound and fueled by love, we are stronger than the divisions.  Together, we are strong in witness to Christ’s love for all people.  Together, we offer extravagant welcome and radical hospitality to a world seeking lives of deeper meaning and value. Together, we feed the hungry, give shelter to the unhoused, and spread God’s infectious grace and radical inclusivity.

We need you in order to do this work.  Your participation in our community is crucial to living out this vision. Your gifts and talents, your passions and commitments energize the ministries of the community.  And, your financial gifts build bigger tables, sustain the beauty of creation, and embrace those who believed God could never love them.

"Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love." (1John 4:8)

As we launch our Annual Campaign and plan our budget for 2023,  please weigh the value of the alternative vision we project into our community through the ministries of FCCLG.
